Customer Reviews

Good for light use

Review by Rachel I. Walker, 2009-12-13

I bought this kit to put together in my basement to provide an enclosure for my growing orchid collection. It was easy for me to put up by myself, if a little awkward in places. I did not buy the custom cover, but used several rolls of window insulation plastic (which came out almost as expensive anyway!).

I did have an issue with some screw holes not being present in a few of the plastic parts as indicated in the plans, but these were parts that hold together just fine under their own weight. I did not use any side bracing that is optional with the plans as it is in a basement. However if you wanted this to be outside, you'd definitely need the extra bracing to ensure it stayed standing under winds.

2x4basics Enclosure Kit

Review by K26kv, 2009-11-18

Very easy to install over my 2x4 basics frame. It took me about a half a day to put the whole frame together and to get the cover over the frame. I didn't have a very level place to build the frame and would suggest building it on an area already leveled. Two of us were able to move the whole thing into it's permanent spot after I built it. I am going to use the structure to keep some of my plants in over the winter and to start some plants early next spring. We have had two wind storms blow thru the Seattle area and the enclosure held up well. My fence needs some more reenforcement but the enclosure stood up to the weather. I like that there are zippered doors with tie backs on both ends of the enclosure.

FEB 2010 UPDATE: Added a set of shelves and just bought four heated pads to keep the seed beds warm at night. The vegetable seeds should start popping up the first part of March. This was a great purchase, I am still very pleased with the system. The potted plants that I stored in the cold frame over winter faired really well and I didn't have to try to store them in the garage like I use to do.

GUICK AND EASY SHELTER

Review by Brenner T. Hilgert, 2008-08-23

I recently built an EASY UP to store my lawn tractor behind my garage. The directions were simple to follow and I liked not having to cut any angles. Project was completed in less than two hours. Used treated lumber and coated wood screws. Covered the entire structure with a used billboard cover made of poly coated canvas - plain white side out - purchased for $20.00 I think this thing will last for years.

I rated it four stars because I think they could have made the hardware a little stronger.
